How the Mine engine works

You give Mentionry a domain. It works out who that site competes with. Then it runs the Mine engine.

The engine finds pages that link to your competitors and not to you. It also finds resource pages, listicles and directories by searching your niche directly. Every opportunity is judged individually by a model that can refuse to draft an email if the business cannot honestly answer the request. Paid placements are excluded by design, as buying links that pass ranking signals violates Google's policy.

For each valid opportunity, the engine drafts the email, form submission or reply needed to get the link. Those drafts can be written into your own Gmail. Mentionry sends it from your own connected mailbox.

The three channels inside Mine

The Mine engine works through three specific channels. Each serves a different part of the link prospecting process.

  • Competitor link gap. The engine qualifies your niche first, then mines competitor backlinks. It classifies which links are actually replicable for your business.
  • Prospects. This is everything the classifier kept, with the specific reason each page would add a link. This is your actionable list, with drafts ready.
  • Resource pages and directories. These are curated link pages that take submissions, found by searching your niche directly. This channel is not limited to pages a competitor already reached, which is the ceiling built into any standard gap report.

Why the split between Mine and Earn matters

Mentionry splits its work into two engines, Mine and Earn. This matters because they address fundamentally different markets. Most tools only do one of them.

Mining answers the question 'who links to my competitors and not to me'. It is about replicating an existing link graph. Earning answers 'who is asking for a source, booking a guest, taking an entry, or writing about this already'. It is about creating new coverage.

The commercial behaviour, the outreach required, and the type of link gained are different for each. A tool that only does one leaves half the opportunity on the table.

What the engine does not do

It is important to state the limitations before you find them. The Mine engine does not build or maintain registries and datasets. It does not perform broken link building. It does not inventory relationships with vendors, partners or customers.

It does not perform anchor text audits. It cannot read services like HARO or Source of Sources, as they reach sources as an email digest only. Reading them would require a subscribed mailbox and IMAP parsing, which we do not do.

The engine also does not claim to find a certain number of opportunities. In a measured run for one domain, it found 110 openings, judged 40, and kept 14. The filtering is the product, not the volume.

How to judge the results

You can check the engine's work. Every opportunity includes the source page and the specific competitor link it found. You can visit the page to verify the link exists and the context is right.

The draft email is based on the content of that specific page. It is not a template. If the page cannot be opened, the row is reported as unchecked, never as unlinked.

The drafting model is allowed to say 'this business cannot honestly answer this', and it does. Given a reply asking for payment for a link, it will decline and explain why in the draft.

Questions people actually ask

How many links will this find for my site?

Mentionry does not guarantee a number of links. The product is built around filtering, not volume. In a measured run for one domain, the engine found 110 openings, judged 40, and kept 14. Your results will depend on your niche, your competitors, and the quality of existing resource pages in your field.

Does this require me to connect any accounts or API keys?

No. The user connects no accounts and supplies no API keys to get opportunities from the Mine engine. The only optional connection is your own Gmail, which is used solely to write drafts into your mailbox. Mentionry sends it from your own connected mailbox.

How is this different from a standard backlink gap report?

A standard gap report only shows links your competitors have and you do not. The Mine engine does that, but it also searches directly for resource pages and directories in your niche. This means it can find opportunities no competitor has yet reached. It then classifies which competitor links are actually replicable and drafts the specific outreach for each valid page.

What stops the tool from suggesting I buy links?

Paid placements are excluded by design. The classifier judges each page individually and will not draft outreach for pages that sell links. Buying links that pass ranking signals violates Google's link spam policy, and the penalty lands on the customer's site. The drafting model will also refuse if a reply asks for payment, explaining why in the draft.

Run this against your own domain

Give it a domain and it works out who you compete with, mines the pages that link to them and not to you, judges every opening one at a time, and writes the email, the form or the reply. It sends them from your own mailbox, so the replies come to you.

Find out what your domain is missing

Qualifying a domain is free and it is the honest first question: some sites have a pool worth mining and some have nothing to mine and everything to earn. Run that first.

$300a month

One plan. There is no cheaper rung with things taken out of it.

  • Both engines, all fourteen channels
  • Every opening judged one at a time, with the reason kept
  • The email, the form or the reply drafted for each one
  • Sent from your own mailbox, so the replies come to you
  • Nine connectors that need no key and no account of yours
  • Marketplaces and paid placements filtered out, twice
